Ever looked at your bursting wardrobe and thought to yourself “I have nothing to wear!”?
Well, I’d be really surprised if you genuinely had less than this year-long capsule wardrobe of just 10 pieces. Designed and produced by Malaysian art and fashion collective Ultra, and made out of organic cotton and recycled materials, the collection includes many pieces that are multi-use, and the company will even repair them for you if they rip or wear out. At the end of the year you can return your set and get a new one for a discounted price and if you’re ever in need of inspiration you can check out their website to see other ‘challengers’ and how they’re wearing their pieces.
Of course buying new clothes is not a way to reduce consumption, but clever design and sustainable materials are a great way to do a lot more with fewer things.
And you don’t even have to buy new to make a wardrobe that’s as efficient as this one - you could try making your own from the unused clothes you already have, or by buying from second-hand clothing shops.
Swishing is also a great way to spice up your clothing collection without spending a penny or buying new. Why not set up your own event with friends to trade clothes or, if you live in Budapest, keep an eye out here for up coming swap-shops.
